Ethel Matenge-Sebesho (Chair)
Ethel Matenge-Sebesho was the first person in Botswana to obtain the Institute of Bankers’ Association
Diploma (CAIB) South Africa. She subsequently obtained an MBA from Brunel University in London; her dissertation topic was Asset securitisation as an opportunity for improvement in bank funding.
She is currently working as a general manager for Home Loan Guarantee Company which facilitates access to housing finance in the low income market by providing guarantees of last resort to lenders.
Before joining Home Loan Guarantee Company, she was general manager of Housing Institutions at National Housing Finance Corporation (NHFC). Matenge-Sebesho has in recent years served on various bodies, among them, Air Botswana (as vice chairperson of the Board), Oikocredit (an international development co-operative society based in the Netherlands, involved in a worldwide drive of providing development loans, grants and guarantees to project partners in
developing countries), WDB Micro Finance, and as a trustee of the Finmark Trust, which aims to make financial markets work for the poor.
She is the chairperson of the WDB Micro Finance. She is also a director of FirstRand Banking Group and a director of Advantage Asset Managers.

Professor Nkondo
Professor Muxe Nkondo was vice-chancellor and principal of the University of Venda, a position he has held since April 1994. For two and a half years before 1994, Professor Nkondo was deputy vice-chancellor and vice-principal in charge of academic affairs at the University of the North.
He was invited back to the University of the North after fifteen years of exile in the United States of America, driven away for criticising apartheid education in a book entitled Turfloop Testimony: the Dilemma of a Black University in South Africa.
That book continues to serve as a source for research on some of the terms for the ransformation of university education in our country. During his 15 years in exile, he lectured at various colleges and universities, among which were Vassar College, Harvard, Yale, and Oxford. During that period, he was invited to read papers on literature as well as on education-as-politics in numerous international conferences.
He is also a published writer on African literature in British, American and Canadian journals. In 2003, he was appointed by the South African cabinet to serve as a board member of the Africa
Institute of South Africa. He serves also on the following boards and committees: WDB Micro Finance; People of Africa Foundation (executive chairperson); the Micro Finance Apex Fund (Steering Committee); National Rural Development Education Programme (chairperson); Executive Committee of the Advisory Panel of USAID - Tertiary Education Linkages Project (Chairperson); and the African Civil Society Organisation (Organising Committee).
Margaret Jiri
Margaret Jiri is senior lecturer at the Institute of Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Poverty Reduction at the University of Venda. She holds an MA in Human Resource
Planning and Development from United Kingdom’s University of Westminster and a BA in Applied Sociology from the United Kingdom’s University of East London.
She is a microfinance specialist having worked in the sector for the past 14 years, particularly in Africa. Jiri has directly set up and managed a number of micro finance facilities in many African countries.
Her areas of expertise are in designing, developing, implementing and evaluating micro finance programmes. Other areas of her specialisation are governance of micro finance programmes, organisational development and strengthening and designing training modules for business development services and products development Jiri joined the board of WDB Micro Finance in 2001.
Mmatsatsi Makgohloa
Mmatsatsi Mokgohloa holds a BA and BA (Hons) in Social Work; MA (Social Science) from Unisa and is an accredited assessor and skills development facilitator. She is currently employed as a director and socio-economic development consultant for Korema, a closed
corporation that values projects for government departments and private companies.
Her expertise lies in are in identifying growth constraints in organisations, financial counselling and development
of economic growth strategies for small and micro entrepreneurs and linking them with relevant resources to meet their needs. She is a non-executive member of WDB Micro Finance.
Nomgqibelo Mdlalose
Nomgqibelo Mdlalose holds an MBA, Diploma in HR Management and a BA (Hons) from various institutions of learning. She is currently the manager of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality Enterprise Development. Her expertise includes the management and implementation of the Managing Directors’ Special Projects, administration and transformation of companies. She is a nonexecutive member of WDB Micro Finance since 2001.
Winnie Gakii Imanyara
Ms Imanyara is currently working at Kenya Equity Bank where she holds 3 portfolios: Change & Corporate Affairs Director, Chief Executive Equity Consulting Group and Chief Executive Equity Group Foundation (both subsidiaries are 100% owned by the Bank). She is also a Council Member of the Institute of Personnel Management.
Ms Imanyara holds a degree in Business Administration. She also studied Management Studies and obtained a Diploma in Industrial Psychology and Personnel Management. Furthermore, Ms Imanyara qualified in Project Management at the York University, Toronto and has attended various short-term programmes on Leadership, Training Psychometric assessment and Personal Profiling, Product Development Plan, TQM, ISO 9000, to further her skills.
