The structure of WDB MF branches

The WDB branch is the central core of the whole program. WDB MF currently has 27 branches operating 6 in Limpopo, 6 in Mpumalanga, 7 in KwaZulu Natal North, 4 in KwaZulu Natal South and 4 in Eastern Cape provinces. This is where all the lending and development activities are conducted and WDB performance can be measured.

The structure of the Branch is as follows:

• Branch Manager – responsible for all the functions of the branch, supervising the branch staff and maintaining positive relationships with the community and traditional leadership.

• Development Assistants – we have 6 in number per branch. Their function is to visit various villages in the area of operation; where they introduce the WDB micro credit concept identifying the poorest households who need credit and encouraging the women to agree to join the WDB MF credit programme. They are called Development Assistants (DA’s) because they are more than loan officers - their role is to promote the integrated development of our clients.
