WDBIH’s investment portfolio includes:
Energy and Mining
BPSA - a 7.5% stake in a partnership alongside the Mineworkers Investment Company (MIC) where we collectively hold 25% in BP Southern Africa
Masana Petroleum Solutions – a 10.5% stake in this 55% Black-owned and controlled petroleum solutions company, alongside MIC, management and staff. BP retains a 45% shareholding
Anglo Inyosi Coal – a 5% stake in this coal mining venture alongside Lithemba Consortium and Pamodzi Coal where we collectively have a 27% stake in this enterprise which mainly consists of Anglo’s prospective coal interests
Kalahari Resources – a 8.5% stake in this manganese mining company based in the Northern Cape
Wakemin MRD V2O5 – a 15% stake in this Black controlled company which operates a vanadium pentoxide (V2O5) recovery plant alongside the Chrome International SA (“CISA”) plant in Newcastle
ICT
Paracon – a 25% equity stake in this listed IT Resourcing company
Services
Bidvest – WDBIH is part of the Dinatla Consortium holding 9% in this Top 40 listed company. WDBIH also has pre-existing relationships with two underlying companies, Rennies Travel and Dinatla Property Services
KLA – a 25.1% stake in this leading market research company
Financial Services
FirstRand Group – a 6.5% equity stake was acquired by the Kagiso, WDBIH and MIC Consortium and 3.5% was simultaneously set aside for FirstRand employees
Advantage Asset Managers – a 11.5% stake alongside a management stake of 3.5% in South Africa’s second largest multi-manager, formed as a result of the merger between M-Cubed Holdings and Momentum Multi-Managers
Discovery Holdings – a 3% stake in this health care and insurance business alongside the Discovery Foundation (2.4%), a BEE staff Trust (0.9%), Vincent Maphai (0.2%) and Black Non-Exec’s (0.1%)
Other sectors
Maemo Motors – a 25% stake in this Daimler Chrysler motor dealership based in Rustenburg
Rainprop – a 7.5% stake in this company which was awarded the concession to design, build, fund and operate the flagship DTI campus in Pretoria
